Bring Claude up to speed
Claude doesn't know anything about your business yet — but it's very good at asking the right questions. One prompt is all it takes to get started.
In Claude
Let Claude interview you about your business
Open a new chat in Claude and paste this prompt. Claude will ask you questions one at a time — just answer them in your own words. At the end, it will write your instructions for you.
I'm new to AI and want you to get to know my business so you can help me effectively. Please ask me one question at a time — up to 8 questions — to understand what my business does, who my customers are, where I'm based, my communication style, and what I'd most like help with.
Once I've answered all your questions, write a set of Claude Instructions I can save in my settings. Make them practical and written in second person — ready to paste directly.
Tip:
Answer in plain language — you don't need to be precise or technical. The more natural your answers, the better Claude understands you.
Before you paste
Add your personal preferences
Before saving, add a few lines at the bottom of your instructions about how you like things written. These small preferences make a big difference to how useful Claude's responses feel.
Ideas:
Never use em-dashes (—) in your responses · Always write headings in sentence case, not title case · Keep responses concise — I'll ask if I need more detail · Don't use bullet points unless I ask · Always ask me one clarifying question before starting a task
Write your preferences here, then add them to the bottom of your instructions:

Bring Claude up to speed
ChatGPT already knows a lot about your business. We're going to use that to set up Claude — so it understands who you are from the very first message.

Get ChatGPT to write your Claude instructions
Open a new chat in ChatGPT and paste this prompt. Answer its questions, then wait for it to write your instructions.
You know my business well from our previous conversations. I'm now setting up Claude as my AI assistant and need your help writing my Claude Instructions.
Before you write anything, ask me up to 4 clarifying questions — especially about: my tone and communication style, what I use AI for most, my audiences and any sensitivities, and anything missing from what you know.
Once I've answered, write Claude Instructions covering:
1. What my business does and who we serve
2. Tone and brand voice
3. What I most need AI help with
4. How I want Claude to respond
5. Constraints — Australian English, never guess facts, no jargon
Write it ready to paste directly into Claude. Second person, practical, no fluff. End with a heading "A note on working with me" and add 2–3 personal preferences you've picked up.
Tip:
Read before you paste — ChatGPT may include things that are outdated. A quick edit now saves confusion later.

Build an artifact

Before we build anything visual, let's see what Claude can do with everything it's just learned about your business. Pick one of these to try. The responses often surprise people.
