It might be worth noting though, that these days, SharePoint 2010 is functional and flexible enough to make awesome public facing sites as well, and furthermore, there are a number of open source CMSs like our old friend Drupal which are just as capable of producing the level of functionality and integration needed for complex intranets and corporate platforms.
