Instructional Design

What is Instructional Design?

Instructional design is all about creating learning experiences that are effective, efficient and appealing for both learners and educators.    Instructional design is crucial to the e-learning discipline in ensuring that learning outcomes can be achieved in the specialised delivery format of e-learning modules being deployed remotely through a Learning Management System or other means.

Captovate Knows Instructional Design

Captovate's qualified and experienced instructional designer uses proven best practice techniques in defining and developing educational materials and content for successful e-learning in an appropriate context and engaging style.

We ensure that the most relevant and informed learning theories and strategies are employed to achieve learning outcomes.  We create instructional designs that are effective and appropriate to the target audience, taking into account where necessary limitations in literacy or computer experience, as well as users with English as a second language.

The Instructional Design Process

We start the process by determining the current state and the needs of the 'student' group, which then informs the learning objectives that need to be achieved.  Once these are defined, we work backwards to develop a learning structure and materials that will achieve the required outcomes. We then work with you in gathering or creating educational content for modules that fit the effective learning structure.

We undertake prototyping and testing of e-learning modules during the instructional design phase to confirm that the methods and techniques are effective with the target audience.
