Working at Captovate is awesome

Juhani was back packing his way around the world but he loved it at Captovate so much he's staying on for the next few years. He also drinks a lot of coffee.

Our studies have shown that chocolate and junk food increase brain performance, hence why the bar is stocked with lots of it.

Working at Captovate is awesome. I get to surf Facebook, Youtube and read blogs during work time and it's all totally legitimate! Other workplaces call it an abuse of company resources and time, here at Captovate we call it research and development. I guess that's the main reason why I like it here so much - we don't do things the normal boring way. We do it with fun and freedom.

We get free coffee, not the instant stuff either, and there is a fully stocked bar/café area for Friday afternoons and special occasions.  There's loads of chocolate for the clients too, but we end up eating most of it ourselves. Also whenever the boss is feeling generous he'll shout us all Rendezvous for lunch or fire up the BBQ and cook us some burgers.

I haven't thrown a sickie since I started working here two and a half years ago. Not because my immune system is impenetrable, but because I actually enjoy coming to work. Michael and Karen (the Bosses) treat us well and allow us to have a say in all matters no matter how big or small. They actually listen too, although I'm still trying to get a giant fish tank installed in the conference room.

The guys and gals I work with are pretty cool as well. We all have a passion for anything online and technology related. Heather and Emma are probably the number one customers at  various online retailers while Juhani and Richard are constantly talking about their Android phones. Karen thinks the Kindle is the best thing since the invention of paper and Michael was one of the first to get the iPad...and then the same again with the iPad 2. If you're a technology nerd, you'll fit right in. If not, don't fret as we'll soon have you converted.

When I first joined it was just Michael and I were in a shoebox for an office, but business has boomed and we've now moved office with a total of 8 staff. We've got a social media guru coming on board soon and we're now looking for another two developers to work on some of the best web projects on offer in the Territory. We've done websites and projects for Darwin City Council, TIO, Kerry's, Darwin Airport, Crocosaurus Cove, Viva la Body, Grind Online, Territory FM, loads of NT Government departments and more! We're also working on a bunch of iPhone apps as well, which gives us another excuse to play with our phones during work time.

It's not all work of course as we definitely like to party in our downtime. Our movie themed progressive party late last year was an epic all night bender all over Darwin. The Amazing Race Christmas party had us running around like mad as per the TV show and was an absolute blast. We also have clients or even just random people coming up to the office for free beer and snacks at our bar.

Life is great at Captovate. It's definitely the most fun and rewarding work place I've ever been, and I'm not just saying that because I'm getting paid to ;)
